Hello, my name is jez2718. I have a PhD in mathematics, and currently work as a postdoc in applied mathematics.
What is the purpose of this blog?
About 10 years ago, I became an atheist, and at about the same time, I discovered philosophy. Ever since, I have made it a hobby to study the topic of religion: its philosophy, theology, sociology and history.
This blog is a collection of my musings on philosophical and religious topics.
Why “Known and Strange Things”?
It’s a phrase from Seamus Heaney’s Postscript that I am rather fond of. And some of the things on here will be known, and many of them will be strange.
